Join the Wild World Heroes for the Summer Reading Challenge and discover how you can make a difference to the environment too.
What this year’s Summer Reading Challenge is about
The Reading Agency are teaming up with WWF for a very special nature-themed Challenge that will inspire you to stand up for the planet! Wild World Heroes will feature amazing books, awesome rewards and plenty of ideas for taking care of our environment. The Challenge takes place from Saturday 10th July 10 to Friday 10th September 2021.
What you need to do to complete the challenge
Every child who takes part needs to read six books over the summer holidays and make a note of what they’ve read for the Challenge – ideally, these should be books you’ve borrowed from LoveWeston Library that you’ve read independently, though you can share stories with friends, family or carers. If there are times when you can’t make it to the library, the Challenge can include ebooks, comics, magazines or audiobooks as well, or books from home.
How to take part at the library
Children must be members of the library and have their library card (or hold a LibrariesWest card). If they’re not members yet, we can sign them up at the same time. If children or their parents/carers would prefer they don’t join the library, they’ll need to do the Summer Challenge virtually (see more further down the page).
The Challenge is for children aged 4–11 only (exceptions may be made for children aged 12 or over with additional needs). You need to visit LoveWeston Library during our opening hours to sign up.
Once you’ve signed up, you’ll be given a numbered envelope which will include your sticker pack, reward stickers, bookmark and a set of instructions. Once you’ve read your six books, you return with your sticker pack and collect your medal and certificate.
Please note that the number of packs we have in the library is limited, so sign up early to avoid disappointment!
Taking part online
If you can’t get to LoveWeston Library or would rather not join the library as a member, you can take part online here Please note that if you decide to take part this way, you won’t be able to sign up in person or take part at the library later.
Hope to see you at the library soon, and good luck with the challenge!
